The Plug has been developed to enable corona-proof projects by our community for our community. We support the

selected projects by sharing knowledge, network and a budget max € 2,000 per project. The entries were inventive and impactful, we noticed that a large number of women dedicate themselves with great passion as community organizers. We are really proud of the 1st batch of The Plug 2020. Keep an eye on the website and our socials for updates on these projects.

BLACKBIRDS is a dance company formed by Dutch dance talent with a background in hip-hop and contemporary dance.
The 12 black dancers (women and men) have an intrinsic motivation to change the lack of representation in the dance world. Partly thanks to The Plug, they are making a dance film in which young black talents are at the cenrtre. BLACKBIRDS contrasts with the way most white institutions work and shows how things should be done differently.

Healing Sessions

The Healing Collective originated from grassroots activism. The initiators have been on the front line in recent years when it comes to taking action and bringing about change at an institutional level. Especially from Kick Out Zwarte Piet and last summer also as #BlackLivesMatters. To combat the underexposed consequences of activism such as burnouts and trauma, they organise Healing Sessions that are supervised by two black psychologists who are sensitive to the transcultural and intersectionality that plays a role in identity.

Walk-in culture

Emerging Rotterdam artists Melissa Moria and Domino Koopmanschap are the creative minds behind Walk-in-culture. This is a walking route where Rotterdam artists, designers, performers are given a stage to show their work.

In this way, catering entrepreneurs and the creative sector are supported in a corona-proof way.
