JULY & AUGUST
This summer we’re doing it a little differently. We’re skipping our usual summer holiday and offer 4-week courses, single classes and 1-day workshops every Saturday and individual classes.
The courses and weekly classes consist of weekly 2-hour lessons that get your body, mind and soul moving. Combining skills with knowledge about style, culture and hip-hop.
The courses run from 5 July to 30 July & 2 August to 27 August! Treat yourself!
NO END DATE
Since last year, we’ve hosted BLKNWS by Kahlil Joseph in our living room. Khalil is a video artist who has created videos for the likes of Beyoncé, Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar.
His art installation BLKNWS is a conceptual news channel about black culture. Pop culture combined with historical images. Drop by and experience it for yourself!

Dave Chappelle’s Block Party is a one of a kind type party that literally every hip hop head (still) dreams of. Chappelle’s secret neighborhood party in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn came with an unreal lineup, including: Kanye West, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Common, Jill Scott and The Fugees.
But this documentary shows more than the performances of big names, and zooms in on the social and community engagement it created within a community where hip-hop, soul and related genres are indispensable.
Giving back to the people at its finest, experience the most legendary block party ever in the Garden of BIRD and get your tickets before you miss the documentary of Chappelle’s block party!
From the funky, opening groove of the film’s first song, Stevie Wonder’s slinky jam on the Isley’s Brothers’ “It’s Your Thing,” it is obvious the new documentary Summer of Soul (…or When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) will be packed with little-seen, landmark live performances.

Beyond the Beat’s core program and mission revolves around unveiling the hiphop culture in a wider context. Through a multi-disciplinary program – live performance, dance competitions, panels and film – we’re looking to provide context on the development of hip-hop’s music, culture and cross-overs over time.
