Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants

In the fiftieth birth year of hip-hop, we produced the documentary "Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants", which established a connection between 150 years of Keti Koti, the abolition of slavery in Suriname, and the birth of hip-hop exactly 100 years later. This documentary explores the places where hip-hop found a home, including the existence of the Hiphophuis, and the role of Surinamese welfare and neighborhood centers in this narrative.
