Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants
In the fiftieth anniversary year of hip-hop, we present 'Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants', a documentary that explores the connection between 150 years of Keti Koti - the emancipation of slavery in Suriname - and the birth of hip-hop a century later. This documentary sheds light on how hip-hop has found a home in various places in Rotterdam, including Hiphophuis and Surinamese community centers.
Classes, Courses & Open Practice
Hip Hop inspires and offers tools and knowledge to express and develop yourself. Our weekly schedule is full of lessons and courses in 15+ dance styles, deejaying and roller skating, free training and workshops. The teachers we work with are community leaders with international experience and a following. They share knowledge about the history and culture behind the art form, form collectives and organize events.
