Read moreSince 2002, Hiphophuis has provided a home for hip-hop enthusiasts from Rotterdam and the surrounding areas. Founders Bennie Semil, Lloyd Marengo, and Aruna Vermeulen initially developed Hiphophuis in collaboration with SKVR. It has been an independent foundation since 2008.
Stichting Hiphophuis Holland is governed by an unpaid board consisting of Ernestine Comvalius (chair), Kim Dankoor (secretary) and Janpier Brands (treasurer).
The remuneration policy of Stichting Hiphophuis Holland aligns with the Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) for Art Education. The director, Aruna Vermeulen, is classified in scale 12 of this CAO. The foundation holds ANBI status with RSIN number: 818791408.
The Hiphophuis aims to create a broad educational offering both in-house and in the education sector. In terms of talent development, it has international ambitions. Professionalization of the organization, especially in finance, communication, marketing, and events, is a key focus.
The Hiphophuis strives to provide high quality at low costs, ensuring accessibility for everyone. This objective is made possible through sponsors and subsidies. The Hiphophuis program is largely supported by structural subsidies from the Municipality of Rotterdam and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW).
